Updated: July 2026 · 5 min read · APARTEL Rental

Honda Click 160 and PCX 160 lined up — which scooter to rent in Phuket

These are the two scooters tourists ask us to choose between more than any other, and for good reason — they sit right in the sweet spot for Phuket. Both are Honda, both run the same modern 156cc engine, and both are more than enough for the island's hills. So the honest answer to "Click 160 or PCX 160?" isn't about power — it's about your body, your passenger and your budget. Here's how we steer people at the handover.

The short version

If you're a solo rider getting around town and to the beach, the Click 160 is the smart, cheaper pick — light, flickable, easy to park. If you'll often ride two-up, cover longer distances, or want the calmest ride for the hillier south, the PCX 160 is worth the small extra per day. Same engine, different character.

Same engine, different bikes

Both use Honda's 156cc eSP+ single, so peak power and top speed are near identical. Where they differ is size, weight and comfort — and on Phuket that's what you actually feel every day:

On Phuket's hills and with a passenger

Phuket is not flat. Patong hill, the climb up to Big Buddha, the road over to Kata and Karon — these are the moments a scooter shows its limits. Solo, both bikes handle every one of them without fuss. Two-up is where they separate:

Our rule of thumb. One rider, mostly around the northwest beaches → Click 160. Two riders, or you're heading down to Kata, Rawai and the south a lot → PCX 160. Riding two-up all trip and want maximum comfort → step up to an ADV 160 or NMAX.

Which should you rent?

Pick the Click 160 if…

  • You're riding solo most of the time.
  • You want the lowest daily and monthly price.
  • You value light, easy handling and simple parking around town.

Pick the PCX 160 if…

  • You'll often ride two-up.
  • You want more storage, comfort and stability for longer days and the southern hills.
  • You like the smart key and a smoother, more premium feel.

Still torn between two riders and comfort? Some of our guests size up to the Honda ADV 160 or the maxi-scooter Yamaha XMAX for the roomiest two-up ride. And if you're not sure a scooter is the right call at all, our guide on Phuket in one day by scooter shows what a normal riding day here actually looks like.

FAQ

Is the Honda Click 160 or PCX 160 better for Phuket?

Both share the same 156cc engine, so both climb Phuket's hills fine solo. The Click 160 is lighter, nimbler and cheaper — ideal for one rider around town. The PCX 160 is bigger, smoother and more comfortable with more storage and ABS — the better pick for two riders, longer rides and the hillier south.

Can the Honda Click 160 carry two people up Phuket's hills?

It can, but two adults plus luggage on the steeper climbs like Patong hill or the way to Big Buddha will feel strained on the Click. For riding two-up regularly, the PCX 160 is noticeably more comfortable and composed.

What is the difference between the Click 160 and PCX 160?

Same 156cc engine and roughly the same power. The Click is lighter, smaller and cheaper; the PCX is heavier, longer, more comfortable, has more underseat storage, a smart key and ABS. Click = agile and economical, PCX = comfortable and stable.

How much does it cost to rent a Click 160 or PCX 160 in Phuket?

With us the Honda Click 160 is from 350 ฿/day and the PCX 160 from 400 ฿/day, both with free delivery and helmets included. Monthly rates start around 2,500 ฿ for the Click and 3,000 ฿ for the PCX.
