Phuket Town is a real city: a Sino-Portuguese old quarter, coffee shops, night markets and local food at half the beachside price. A scooter turns it into a handy base for the whole island.
Price list updated 30 July 2026. Low season rates.
Phuket Town is underrated: pastel shophouses on Thalang and Dibuk streets, street art, museum-piece mansions, the island's best coffee and street food locals queue for. On Sundays Thalang closes to traffic for the famous Walking Street evening market.
Living here is cheaper than by the sea, and with a scooter it's also the most convenient: the town sits in the centre of the island, from where any beach is 20–30 minutes away. Mornings — the old town and coffee shops, afternoons — Rawai or Kata, evenings — sunset at Khao Rang.
City traffic is denser than at the beaches: the nimble Click and PCX are the ideal choice; there's bike parking outside every cafe.
From central Phuket Town — no taxis, no waiting.
Ride times by scooter — no taxi, no waiting:
Helmet and phone holder are included. The bike carries compulsory Por Ror Bor with limited statutory bodily-injury cover; it does not cover damage to the bike. The longer the rental, the cheaper the day.
