Bang Tao & Laguna Beaches by Scooter: where to ride and when
Our base is right on the northwest of the island, so we ride around these beaches not for a guide but for work — almost every day. Bang Tao, Surin, Layan and Kamala lie one after another along the coast, and on a scooter you can cover the whole stretch in one morning without a single mountain switchback. Let's break down how each beach differs and when to go.
1. Bang Tao — the "home" beach
8 km of sand — the longest beach in the area, and every stretch has its own character. The south, closer to Laguna, is beach clubs and buzz (Catch, Café del Mar): free loungers with a bar order, sunset with a cocktail. The centre is Laguna hotel territory — calm and family-friendly. The north is almost empty, for those who want quiet.

- Parking your scooter is easy and free along any of the access roads to the beach.

2. Surin — the "millionaires' beach"
Short but the most photogenic beach on the coast: turquoise water, villas on the hill, top restaurants within walking distance. Sun loungers have officially been removed — bring a mat or sit at a café on the hill with a sea view.
- In the off-season (May–October) there are noticeable waves and rip currents, so be careful at the water's edge.
- There is scooter parking by the beach entrance; in high season it gets busier than usual on weekends.
- 10–15 minutes by scooter from Bang Tao along the coast, no switchbacks.

3. Layan — quiet and low tide
The northern continuation of Bang Tao beyond the Trisara hotel: minimal crowds, shallow water — at low tide you can stroll far along the sandbars. A couple of little restaurants by the water, no fuss.
- Perfect with little ones and for anyone tired of the crowded southern beaches.
- Scooter parking right by the beach, almost always free.
- Sunset — with a view of Kala island, quieter and more intimate than at Bang Tao.
4. Kamala — the family beach "over the hill"
20–25 minutes south via Surin. A calm bay between Patong and Surin, a laid-back vibe, lots of long-stay winterers. There are sun loungers, and the beach is lined with cafés for every taste. The Phuket FantaSea show park is right nearby.

What is the deposit for a scooter in Phuket?

Do you keep my passport as a deposit?
No. We take a cash deposit of 2,500 ฿ to 5,000 ฿ only and never keep your passport — it stays with you for the whole rental.
Do I need an international driving permit to rent a scooter?
Yes. To ride a motorbike in Thailand you need an international driving permit with category A. Without it the fine at a police checkpoint is usually 500 ฿ to 1,000 ฿, and the insurance will not pay after an accident.
Do you deliver the scooter to the hotel, and what does it cost?
Yes — delivery to a hotel or villa inside the selected branch's local area is 0 ฿, even on a 1 day rental. Other areas of Phuket are by arrangement.
How do I book a scooter?

We take no online prepayment. You pay for the whole rental at handover, together with the deposit.

We work like a scooter supermarket: 10 models from 150 ฿ to 800 ฿ a day. The budget end is the Yamaha Grand Filano 125 from 150 ฿ a day and the Yamaha Fino 125 from 150 ฿ a day on a long rental.
The premium end is the Yamaha XMAX 2026 from 500 ฿ a day and the Honda ADV160 2026 from 300 ฿ a day on a long rental. There is a model for every wallet.
What happens if the scooter breaks down?
