Nai Harn is the beach Phuket residents name when you ask for their favourite. The layout is simple: a bay of white sand, a freshwater lake with a running track behind it, and villas and small hotels in the greenery around both. Mornings belong to the runners circling the lake, the middle of the day to swimming, and the evening moves up to Promthep for the sunset. Nothing passes through Nai Harn on its way somewhere else, and it shows.
Distances inside Nai Harn are short, but the bay sits in a bowl: every road out of it climbs, whether you are heading to Promthep or north towards the rest of the island. Surfaces are good and the bends are open, so it asks for care rather than skill. Evenings are the part to plan. The lanes around the lake carry almost no lighting and people keep walking and running on them long after dark, so come back at a pace that lets you stop for someone in dark clothing.
For the local loop — lake, beach, dinner, sunset — a Yamaha Fino at 150 ฿ a day is genuinely enough. It is small, parks anywhere along the sand road and forgives a nervous rider. The one caveat is the pull up out of the bay when you are not riding alone: the Fino will get there, slowly, with a car sitting behind you. If that is most evenings, a 160 removes the question for a small difference in the daily price.

Cafes, the market and the shops live in neighbouring Rawai, seven minutes down a straight road. To the north runs one of the island's most beautiful stretches: the Nai Harn–Kata road over Windmill Viewpoint, with the sea visible on both sides. Taxis charge heavily for these short hops, which is why a scooter here is as basic as your house keys.
On the flat a Honda Click or PCX is plenty. If you plan daily rides over the viewpoints to Kata and Karon, an ADV160 or XMAX is more comfortable — torque on the climbs, stability in the corners. Long-stayers: monthly rental with maintenance included.
